2009 MarCom Interns and Hosts
Spokane MarCom named two local university students to receive communications internships last summer. The student award winners are:
Kelly MacDonald, a senior majoring in Communications/Business at Whitworth University who was previously Washington State High School Journalist of the Year; and
Tyler Tullis, a junior majoring in Public Relations/Advertising at Gonzaga University who runs his own business marketing and promoting his published works of fiction.
They were selected from a competitive field of 17 applicants as this year’s internship award winners. The hosts for these two talented interns also were selected from a competitive field of local community organizations. The internship hosts are:
YMCA of the Inland Northwest and Community Frameworks.
“The YMCA of the Inland Northwest is delighted to have been selected as a match for one of the top intern candidates by Spokane MarCom," says Mary Berry, Director of Communications for the YMCA. "I believe this opportunity will be an exceptional one for both the YMCA and Tyler. We look forward to the collaboration!”
“Interns provide creativity and skills that are invaluable to non-profits like Community Frameworks," says Ann Price, Resource Development Manager for the affordable housing organization. "MarCom’s support of Kelly as a paid intern will help us move forward two important but long-delayed projects intended to raise awareness about affordable housing and the people and communities we serve."
